I found that the only way to rid myself of my beer gut was to do sit-ups or crunches. After a great deal of effort doing cardio exercise for half an hour daily, followed by strength training for another half hour, I was losing weight and did look better, but my gut still had this mid-line bulge that I could not get rid of. After some more research I came to the conclusion that I needed to try abdominal crunches. I started out doing ten crunches a day, then gradually increased the number of sit-ups until I worked up to 150 per day. I can complete 150 crunches in about ten minutes, so it didn't really add much time to my workout. I learned that sit-ups or crunches, are vital to work your core, and the only way to reduce the size of the belly. I use a sit up machine where I sit in a chair and pull down with a cable from behind my head. There are other sit up machines where you sit in a chair and push down on a padded bar against your chest. I don't like simply doing sit-ups on the ground lying on my back, as this hurts my 50 year old back. Give sit ups a try and see if it works for you.
It strengthens your back as well. Sit ups don’t only help build up your figure, but it also increases your stability and balance. Glad you’re fond of doing it now! How’s it going?
